Lego Scrum at Postgraduate Studies :)

Gaining of knowledge

During my postgraduate studies, which are almost finished, I had the chance to take a very interesting course – Agile & Scrum. It was one of the most engaging classes I have ever had. For those who don’t know what Agile and Scrum are, here’s a brief explanation:

Agile is a modern approach to project management that focuses on flexibility and quick adaptation to changing requirements. Scrum is one of the Agile methodologies, which is based on short, intensive work cycles called sprints. In Scrum, teamwork, continuous improvement of processes, and delivering working parts of the product at every stage are important.

That’s enough of the smart definitions, now a few words about one of the workshops we did in this course.

Lego Scrum Workshops
During the classes, we had a great opportunity to participate in Lego Scrum workshops. Imagine building with Lego bricks while learning to manage a project using the Scrum methodology. At the beginning of the class, we split into small teams. Each team had to plan and complete specific tasks from a pre-prepared project backlog. First, we discussed the action plan – what we wanted to build, what elements we would need, and what our goals were. Then we started building. Each sprint, a short work cycle, ended with a brief session where we compared our progress with the original plan. It was very exciting because we could see how our ideas turned into reality.

The Lego Scrum workshops were a lot of fun, but above all, they were very educational. We learned how important planning is and how crucial teamwork is. We also understood that not everything always goes according to plan and that we must be ready for changes. Communication and the ability to quickly respond to emerging problems were also key.

The Lego Scrum workshops were not only great fun but also an excellent lesson in project management. I am glad I had the chance to participate, and I recommend everyone who has the opportunity to try out such activities.
