For some time, I’ve been thinking about going deeper into data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. As a Java developer, I often see how the backend world connects with data science — and how important it is to understand what happens “on the other side” of an ML model.

That’s why I decided to start postgraduate studies in Data Science.
I’ve already had two weekends of classes, and I have to say — it’s great. The teachers explain things clearly, the materials are practical, and the pace is perfect for real learning.
I enjoy the Python classes the most — that’s the part I was most excited about. After years of working with Java, Python feels like a fresh view on programming: more experimental, more analytical, focused on data and models.
The program is really broad — from basics of statistics and machine learning, through big data and Hadoop, to deep learning and neural networks. Everything is taught in a very practical way, showing how to use these technologies in real projects.
I’m trying to make the most of these studies. I study 100%, not just to pass the subjects, but to really grow my technical skills and broaden my horizons.
I also plan to attend PyStok meetups, to meet people from the community, exchange experiences, and see how others work on Python and Data Science projects.
I feel this is just the beginning of my journey, but already I can see how much this decision motivates me. 🔥
If you’re also thinking about learning something new outside your main language — go for it!
