Hi everyone! It’s spring outside, but on GitHub, AI models are busier than ever. Even though AI is talking about code more and more, I decided to see what’s up with us—the real humans. On Thursday, March 26th, I went to the Gwint Club for the 63rd edition of meet.js Białystok.
Long story short: it was definitely worth leaving my “coding cave”!

What did I learn?
The program was very practical and focused on modern topics. Here is what happened on stage:
- Łukasz Stefański – “Web Workers in a nutshell” Łukasz reminded us about a powerful tool that many people forget to use. Web Workers are a great way to make applications faster by moving heavy tasks away from the main thread. We saw how to sync data between tabs and how to keep the UI smooth.
- Ela Zakrzewska – “From pixels, through prompts, to front-end: talk your way to UI!” Ela showed us how modern designers use tools like Figma AI and Lovable to create working prototypes very fast. For us front-end developers, it’s a clear signal: our workflow is changing, and the line between “design” and “code” is disappearing.
- Adam „Sarin” Piotrowski – Lightning Talk Adam’s talk had a provocative title: “If you brag about using AI because you write 25k lines of code every day, I have bad news for you.” He talked about the future of our jobs and reminded us that more code doesn’t always mean better quality.
My impressions
The best part of meet.js is that besides the knowledge, there is always time for networking with a beer. The discussions after the presentations were just as interesting as the talks—especially the ones about the future of our industry and AI.
It was great to see that the local JS/UI community is doing well and can still fill the club. If you code at home as a hobby and wonder if it’s worth going to these events—the answer is YES. Nothing motivates you to learn more than talking to people who are passionate about the same things.
Thanks to the organizers and speakers for a great evening! Stay tuned, because I’m sure this wasn’t my last meetup this season.
